Visitors are welcomed to take a tour of the Sandhill Bloomers farm for a unique agritourism experience. Sandhill Bloomers is a family-run flower farm located 20 miles north of Wray in northeastern Colorado. Owner April Oestman started the company with her daughter Kacy in 2020 as a way to explore the possibility of growing flowers in an area known primarily for agriculture. Despite the sandy soil of the region, Sandhill Bloomers successfully raises a variety of flowers each summer, from sunflowers and lisianthus to lavender and dahlias. Handmade soaps and other nourishing natural skin care products that use ingredients from the flower farm are also available for purchase.
Learn how April and Kacy have developed a mechanism to grow beautiful flowers in a soil rich with sand as opposed to nutrient rich earth. Tour both the greenhouse and outdoor gardens for a flowering growing tutorial like no other. And if you’re lucky, you may even get to pet an alpaca while you are touring the grounds.
Sandhill Bloomers also has a CSA available for those looking to purchase fresh-cut flowers on a consistent basis from June to September. April can also be found at the St. Francis Farmers Market across state lines in Kansas selling her colorful array of flowers and soaps.
